I love the NextGen Gallery plugin for making photo galleries on websites!
But a common mistake is to NOT optimize photos.
This causes slow loading images at the very least… and we all know how impatient we are these days, don’t we?
Images are typically 5-8MB each and if you load 100-500 images, you can only imagine how much space that takes up!
It’s very likely that you will max out your storage space. Sure, you could purchase more space, but you can avoid that extra expense in many cases by optimizing your images.
So how do you do that?
If you have Photoshop, you can resize the images to 800px x 600px and 72 dpi.
But here’s a tutorial from NextGen Gallery that makes it pretty easy and much less time consuming.
