I came across an article that I thought was quite entertaining.
In 32 Alternatives to “A Lot” Laura Hale Brockway says
“A lot” is a piece of land, or so said many of my high school English teachers whenever anyone used “a lot” to describe an amount.
Unfortunately, in much of the work we’re asked to edit, “a lot” is used…a lot.
How often do you use the phrase “a lot”?
I thought I was doing good to finally figure out that it’s two words and not one.
Think about it the next time you use “a lot” … could you use something a little more creative?
